Thailand’s tourism ministry revealed on Tuesday that the country has welcomed 26.6 million foreign tourists so far this year, marking a substantial 30% rise compared to the corresponding period in 2023. The nation has set its sights on attracting approximately 40 million foreign visitors in 2025.

Thailand welcomed 17.5 million international tourists from January to June 2024. This marks a 34.98% increase from the 12.97 million tourist arrivals in the same period of 2023.

Assisting in achieving the 2025 target, a government representative disclosed plans for promotional initiatives aimed at driving foreign tourist arrivals. This goal comes as a recovery from the record high of nearly 40 million foreign tourists in 2019, a figure that was reached before the onset of the industry crushing Covid pandemic.
